ABOUT ME

Rachael Arnold, LCSW, PMH-C

I am a clinically licensed master’s level social worker providing mental health services for the greater St. Louis Metro area. I received my MSW from the University of Missouri - St. Louis in 2015 and have been practicing clinical social work ever since.

After the birth of my oldest child in 2017, I realized mental health support for families is very limited, especially after the first 6 weeks a child is born. While most doctors and medical professionals will only consider postpartum issues within these early weeks, I believe mothers and families can struggle at any point within the three years of their child's life.

Perinatal mental health is been my passion! I love providing therapeutic support to mothers, pregnant persons, and families as they prepare to become parents, and through their journeys of pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

I currently hold a Certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International, which recognizes me as a specialist in this area. I've also completed specialized foundational EMDR training, which was specifically designed for working with this population.

I like to utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR to help clients not only work through their anxiety and depression, but also to help them target negative believes about themselves while helping them find short-term solutions to help ease their symptoms.

I currently work with clients who wish to process becoming a parent, are struggling with infertility, are experiencing depression or anxiety during pregnancy, have suffered perinatal loss and/or grief, want to work through a traumatic experience before giving birth (including previous traumatic births and sexual assault,) are struggling with postpartum depression and/or anxiety, and/or who need guidance and support as they transition back to work after parental leave.

STATEMENT ADDRESSING THE OVERTURNING OF ROE V. WADE:

I have dedicated my career to serving others in ways that support, uplift, and empower them - today, and every day in our future, will be no different.

Three and a half years ago, I started Nurturing Nest Therapy as a way to support mothers and birthing persons in a society that often writes us off too soon and is quick to make assumptions about us without knowing the full extent of our struggles. My goal was to provide a safe place where mothers and birthing persons could process their feelings, be validated, and learn important tools and coping skills that would help them along their journey. That passion for judgement-free support and validation still stands today.

I hold myself to a high ethical code that values person over government and ensures that I keep every client’s personal and private information confidential and safe. I will ALWAYS provide a safe, non-judgmental space for all clients to process all of life’s ups and downs - including their healthcare choices. I will also work hard to connect clients with community resources and knowledge to help them make the most informed decisions they can, regardless of what the current law states.

For me, and my business, I firmly stand behind the ideals that abortion is healthcare, all persons deserve bodily autonomy, and everyone is entitled the freedom to make their own choices surrounding their reproductive health.

If you, or someone you know is in need of reproductive health community resources, please visit prochoice.org or call 1-800-772-9100.
